'Seeing Cezanne' webinar is a masterclass in the research, writing and publishing of a catalogue raisonné
Jayne Warman’s presentation ‘Seeing Cezanne’, held on 22 September 2021, was billed as ‘a brief history of the Cezanne catalogue raisonné with a demonstration of some of the features of the online edition’.ICRA members and guests were treated to so much more.
Jayne’s research began in 1979 and in her presentation she plotted the journey of forty years to bring the catalogue raisonné to its current form, a comprehensive website, which can be found at www.cezannecatalogue.com. She demonstrated key features of her research, how these techniques have been transformed with the arrival of the internet and digitised archives, and how this wealth of material and information has been organised to produce a complete online catalogue with sophisticated search functions. She also took time to address some considerations for those starting out on these ambitious projects.
ICRA member Joan LiPula said:
This webinar is exactly what I need to watch to continue to motivate and support my own project. It can seem rather isolating at times to work on a project of this scale. I shall return to this many times in the future.
